“Let me live in my own home”
-old woman writes to the head of 512 BrigadeAn old woman has written a letter to the head of the 512 Brigade in Pasayoor requesting that she be allowed to resettle in her own home. Seventythree years old Mrs. Paviluppiallai Kristinamma has written this letter to resettle in her own home located in at 165 Beach Road, Pasayoor.
Extracts from the letter is as follows: “I have already sent two letters on 21st March 2003 and 25th January 2004 requesting to resettle in my own home. My neighbours have been allowed to resettle in this area. They are not using the Beach road. They are using roads leading to the back of their houses. Let me to use as these roads. I am not asking for anything that my neighbours do not have. Having lost my husband already, I have no place to live in my old age. All the belongings from my house have been taken away by the army. Now, the doors, windows and roofs have also been taken away from my house which is located in the High Security Zone (HSZ). Trees, electric wires and switches have also been removed. My neighbours and Chairperson of the Pasayoor Fishermen Association have witnessed the scenes of electric wires and switches being removed by the army on 13th of May. So I want a just and fair decision to my problem. Please let me resettle in my own home.
