LTTE Delegation meets with Finland Parliament’s Human Rights Group
In a meeting arranged by the Finland Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the LTTE Political Team led by Mr.S.P.Tamilselvan met with Ms.Ulla Anttila, MP, and Chairperson of the International Unit, Human Rights Group today 31 March 2005 at the Finnish Parliament complex in Helsinki.
Discussion that lasted for one hour centered on human rights in the context of the Cease Fire Agreement, Peace Process and the Post-tsunami humanitarian delivery with special reference to equitable delivery of humanitarian aid to all affected areas in proportion to the impact. The background of a two decade old war and the devastation caused by it, a non-productive cease fire that has not delivered the peace dividend, normalcy, to the Tamil people and the delay in institutionalizing a Joint Mechanism for post-tsunami management were taken up for in-depth discussion in a Human Rights perspective. Mr. Kari Uotila, MP, Vice-Chairperson of the Human Rights Group and Ms.Paula Moisander, Secretary for International Affairs also participated in the discussion.
