
Two young men shot and killed by SLA in Jaffna
Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers opened fire on a group of young men traveling in a motorbike near Nallur in Jaffna around 4.30 pm on Wednesday. The soldiers were manning the checkpoint at Mutthirai Junction, located on Jaffna - Point Pedro Road near Nallur.
Military spokesperson, Prasath Samarasinghe, said that, the two young men who were trying to throw hand grenades at the security post were shot dead by the soldiers. Witnesses at the scene said that the two young men were unarmed. The Mallakam judge Sarojini Ilankovan, examined the scene and ordered the bodies to be taken to Jaffna teaching hospital for examination. Following postmortem families identified the two men as, Yogarajah Gajendran (21) and Paranchothy Theepan (27). They said the two men worked as tractor drivers.
