Security forces stop temple worshipers
The security forces have passed a ruling that permission must be obtained from them prior to holding festivals in temples in the Jaffna-Thenmaradchi high security zone. Worshipers going to temple are also forced to go through the security checkpoints.
The security forces have given permission for worshipers to go the temples in the Chavakachcheri high security zone. These temples are, Maruvanpulo Selvamuthumari amman temple, Vellankulan Verakathipillaiyar temple, and Niththarpulam Periya thambiran temple. The permission was granted after civilian organisations and people have continuously requested that they be allowed to go to these temples. However, the worshipers are put through very harsh restriction in order to go to the temple.
