Seventeen year old student shot and killed in Kodikamam (Jaffna)
SLA soldiers belonging to its intelligence wing entered a house in Kodikamam in Jaffna and shot and killed a 17 year old student. Father of the student had this to say about the incident.
“Around 12.30 am on Thursday night I heard dogs bark near my house. I opened the door and saw 6 people in civil clothes inside my section. I shouted, “Thief”, the men pointed the gun at me and told me not to shout. They then entered my house. In the meantime my son who heard my shout got up and came out and asked “who is that?” The men opened fire at my son and then left.” “I could not take my son to hospital immediately. There is a military camp just ½ a kilo metre from my house. Military searched our house only two weeks ago. We found an old unexploded bomb in our section that was exposed by the floods. We informed the Kodikamam police. The police and SLA came and defused it. Following this for one week the dogs were barking around the area of my house. Yesterday also the dogs were barking and I opened the door to check”. Chavakachcheri judge K Ariyanayagam conducted the inquiry and ordered the body to be handed to the Jaffna teaching hospital for postmortem.
