SLAF Unmanned aircraft spying in Wanni impacts the spirit of the CFA
“It is in no way compatible with the spirit of the Cease Fire Agreement (CFA) for SLAF unmanned spying aircraft flying over LTTE administered areas for reconnaisance activities” commented the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) spokesperson when the Vavuniya LTTE Politcal Head lodged protest over the incident in which a UAV was reported to have fallen in a location near Kanagarayankulam in the Vavuniya district.
LTTE Vavuniya Political Head Mr.Gnanam, after lodging LTTE’s protest over the violation by SLAF in flying over areas not occupied by military and adminsitered by LTTE, told the media that the LTTE has been registering its protest over a long period of time to UAV reconnaisance flights during a cease fire period. The location Karappukkuththi is an area that has not been cleared of land mines left by the Sri Lankan forces during the time of their occupation. It is reported that the SLMM has already inspected the location and is expected to submit a report on its findings.
