Public demonstration to remove the economic blockade in TrincomaleeThere was a public demonstration demanding the removal of economic blockade in Muthur east area, day before yesterday, 25th of May 2005. For one month the Sri Lankan armed forces in Kaddaiparichchan crossing point imposed blockade on certain essential items such as building materials and fuel for agriculture to Muthur east Tamil villages.People had also staged a demonstration two weeks ago demanding the removal of the economic blockade. At that time the Sri Lankan army commander promised, in the presence of SLMM and Pradesha Saba representatives, that they would sort it out within 14 days. As there are no concrete measures to remove the ban yet, the latest demonstration was organized. At the end of the demonstration, the people handed over petition to the Head of the SLMM, Army commander in Kaddaiparichchan and the Government Agent of Trincomalee.
