
SL Navy attacked fishermen in Vadamarachchi sea
Two fishermen engaged in fishing in fishing in the Vadamarachchi sea, were severely attacked by the Sri Lankan Navy yesterday 2nd September 2005.
These two fishermen, displaced from Palaly High Security Zone, have been living in Polikandy. The Sri Lankan Navy has attacked them and their boats. The Navy took them into their boats and attacked many times. The fishermen were allowed after a long time to leave the sea. The attacked fishermen, Iruthayarajah Jesuthas and Arudpirakasam Anton are hospitalised for the treatment. At the same time, it is noteworthy to mention here that the Jaffna SLA head quarters allowed recently for the resettlement of people from Palaly High Security Zone in Valalai no-mans land and fishing in the Mayiliathanai sea.
