Post –tsunami humanitarian delivery review meeting of INGOO

A meeting of all INGOO working in the post-tsunami humanitarian delivery projects was held in the Planning and Development Secretariat (PDS) in Kilinochchi today 14 October 2005 presided by Mr.S.P.Tamilselvan, Head of the LTTE Political Wing.

While appreciating the valuable service rendered by the INGOO during the rescue and relief operations period and the rehabilitation and reconstruction that falls under the crucial stage three of post-tsunami, Mr.Tamilselvan said that we are dealing with the humaniarian plight of a people already battered by two decades of war and who have not really been benefitted by the promissed dividends of peace through the Cease Fire Agreement (CFA) during the last three and a half years and now facing further crisis due to the impact of tsunami. “Post-tsunami Joint Mechanism which was formulated with the good intention of meeting with humanitarian needs while at the same time thought to be a confidence building measure to re-activate the peace process, unfortunately did not take wings and this is something the INGO community should make note of in accelerating the pace of reettlement” emphasised Mr. Tamilselvan.

INGO community spokespersons expressed their appreciation of the work done by the PDS and the Task Forces with their efficient and knowledgeable personnel in co-ordinating INGO activities and assured their continued service with commitment. Representatives from FORUT, Oxfam, Care International, Solider, Save the Children and WUSC (World University Student of Canada) were participated in the discussions.
