When we lost ten cadres we took on a superpower, today after loosing 100 cadres we are still patient
Commander Suresh from Batticaloa-Amparai
Commander Suresh speaking at the Tamileelam Student Uprising Day on June 2nd in Batticaloa said, “Even when we were poorly armed we took on a superpower because we lost ten cadres in 1987. Today we are armed with modern weapons and we are strong and yet even after loosing 100 cadres we are remaining patient. We do not want war. We will grasp the hand that stretches out to us with sincerity and honesty. But we will chop the hand that reaches out with pretence and dishonesty. “
He added, “Tamileelam students today have performed a great deed by marching with portraits of our national leader on their shoulders, shouting slogans and declaring a statement. They have thus announced their intentions to the Sri Lankan government and the international community. We would like to say just one thing. We are today strong enough to face the enemy and defeat it. We have weapons to attack the enemy that is not visible to the eyes and 15 Kilometers away. But we are not ready for war. We want to live together. The feelings of the students must be clearly understood. If we are patient today that is not because of fear. We have clearly understood the feeling of the international community. We are following the path shown to us by the international community. We grasp the hand stretched out in genuine concern. In contrast if the hand stretched out is insincere, slippery and fake we will chop it. We will fight oppression and injustice. People have given us the authorization. With this we will take on anything and we will win”.
