Fishermen in Jaffna- Pasaiyoor costal area harassed by security forcesFishermen in Jaffna- Pasaiyoor costal area are demanding the removal of the high security zone around this area because of harassment by security forces.When the fishermen go to sea through this region they are put through extensive checking. When they take their fishing equipment out to sea and when they return from the sea with the days catch they have to undergo checking by the security forces. Fishermen are claiming that their livelihoods are being affected due to the amount of time wasted during the checking process. They are therefore requesting the removal of the high security zone.
