“We are shocked and deeply saddened by the murder of TNA member of parliament for Batticaloa, Joseph Pararajasingam. He was shot dead in the Batticaloa Cathedral immediately after he had received his communion in the Christmas Eve mass conducted by Batticaloa Bishop, Rev Kingsley Swampillai. No one with a good heart can justify this act. Those who carried out this brutal murder will be judged by God Almighty.” “Joseph Pararajasingam started his working life as a journalist. He served as a member of parliament since 1990. He was elected with a huge majority in 1994 and 2000 parliamentary elections. This clearly showed that he was a leader who served his people well.” “He also served the Catholic Church during his life. He worked closely with Bishop, Rev Kingsley Swampillai.” Jaffna Catholic Brothers condemn Pararajasingam’s murder Jaffna Catholic Brothers issued a statement condemning the murder of TNA parliamentarian, Joseph Pararajasingam.
