People’s daily life in Jaffna peninsula is hindered by the police
Police in Jaffna is deliberately hindering the daily life of the people in Jaffna to revenge the murder of police chief Charles Wijewardhana by unidentified people.
Police used to check the baggage of people bound for Colombo at the Sinhala Maha Vidhyalayam in Jaffna and then transport them safely to the Palay airport. The police are now refusing to do this. Police is also refusing to accept complaints from civilians at the police stations. People consider the police not as their protectors but as occupiers. The government and its forces are doing their maximum to harass and hinder people going about their daily life. Police that is keen on collecting bribes from Tamils travelling in Vehicles and fines from Tamils is dragging its feet when it comes doing their duties for the Tamil people. Instead they are eager to create hindrance to the Tamil people.
