Associations of Well-fare Centers call for demonstrations demanding the resettlementDemonstrations are to be held in Jaffna peninsula requesting for the resettlement of the displaced people. The arrangements have been made for the demonstrations by the Associations of Jaffna Well-fare Centers and Public Organizations of Valikamam North.The extract from the statement related to these demonstrations is as follows: “We, the displaced people have decided to stage chains demonstrations demanding the resettlement in our own habitats. Denying the access to our own houses and preventing the resettlement poses a serious threat to the Cease Fire Agreement which includes restoring normalcy through resettlement as one of its key provisions and also violation of human rights and natural justice. The total ignorance by the Government of Sri Lanka and its armed forces has questioned the term of ‘normalcy’ and thereby the resettlement of the displaced people.” 25 June 2005
