
Claymore mine blast in Batticaloa
-bus with school students narrowly escaped Nearly 70 students narrowly escaped from a Claymore mine blast on 2nd of June 2005. A bus carrying school students from Pankudaveli in the LTTE administered area to Kuludavali for the Student Uprising Day came under a Claymore mine attack. But the mini-bus narrowly escaped. The incident took place very close to the Koduvamadu Sri Lankan Army checkpoint in the Chenkalady - Badulla road.
No casualties were reported. It is believed that the intension of the attackers is to threaten the school students and prevent them from attending the Student Uprising Day. A formal complaint was filed with the SLMM district office in Batticaloa.
