Norway’s Special Envoy meets with Tamilselvan in Vienna.
In a meeting with the Norwegian Special Envoy Mr. Erik Solheim today 28 March in Vienna, Austria, Mr. S. P. Tamilselvan Head of the LTTE Political Wing expressed serious concern over the latest violations of the CFA inflicting harm to unarmed LTTE political cadres back home in the GoSL-military controlled areas and reiterated that the facilitators take serious note of the deteriorating situation which tends to have adverse effects on the CFA, Peace Process and most importantly, post-tsunami management.
 Mr. Erik Solheim, detailing the various steps taken by Norway to make the Joint Mechanism between the GoSL and the LTTE for post-Tsunami management a reality, requested LTTE too to be pro-active, its gesture of maximum flexibility, commitment and goodwill notwithstanding. The Special envoy also assured that Norway is mindful of the urgency of institutionalizing the joint mechanism in the context of a possible ‘Donor fatigue’. In a seemingly comprehending tone of the precarious plight in which the Tamil people are placed in a post-tsunami scenario and the two decade old war devastation, the Special envoy said that the international community is only too eager to assist but keeping the fingers crossed for a joint effort in the larger interest.
