International community must help Tamils to achieve-Jaffan Bishop Rev Thomas SoundaranayakamJaffna Bishop Rev Thomas Soundaranayakam has called upon the international community to assist Tamils to get their self-determination without any further delay. He made this call in the statement he released in connection with the upcoming Pongu Tamil event in Jaffna on the 30th of this month. He further said in the statement, “Tamils waited with patience and hope after placing their trust in the ceasefire agreement and the memorandum of understanding. Time is running fast without any of their expectations fulfilled. Government even gave up on the P-TOMS for the tsunami relief. How can it resolve the longstanding problem of the Tamil people? Time has arrived for the Tamil people to show to the Government and the international community their situation. Enough of the waiting let up rise up for the rights”, he said. 24 September 2005
