
Protest in Thenmaradchy continues for joint mechanism
The protest continued for the third day in Thenmaradchy in
Jaffna with the demand that the joint structure be set up.
The third day's protest was held in Kodikamam with a
symbolic fasting and a meeting.

podium set up especially for the purpose in the centre of
Kodikamam town. The protest is organized and lead by the
Themaradchy business associations. More than 500 people that included civilians, businessmen,
and students took part in the protest. All commercial
outlets were shut in Kodikamam as a show of support for the
protest. Schools and markets were also closed. Transport
services, however, functioned as usual. Similar protests were held in Kaithady on Thursday. Shops
and schools in Kaithady remained closed. Large number of
police and military were stationed around the protest area.
On Wednesday the protest was held in the Chavakachcheri bus
stand.
