“Resilience of the people in such a plight, is highly impressive”-Robert Evans, MEP“Out of all the people I met in disaster locations elsewhere, the people I met in Mullaittivu, are definitely different, in that their resilience in the midst of such a tragedy, is highly impressive” said Mr. Robert Evans, Member of the European Parliament in a meeting with Mr.S.P.Tamilselvan, Head of the LTTE Political Wing today 8 Feb 2005 in the LTTE HQ in Kiinochchi.
Completing a tour of the Jaffna peninsula, seeing for himself the post-tsunami situation, Mr. Evans arrived in Kilinochchi this morning visited disaster locations in Mullaittivu prior to the meeting with the Political Head. Mr.Tamilselvan explained briefly to the visitor the relief, reconstruction and development plans formulated by the experts from the Tamil Diaspora. He made a personal request to the MEP to convey the leadership’s appreciation and gratitude to the Tamil people domiciled in the United Kingdom for the splendid manner in which they responded to the call from their brethren in distress.
