Tamilselvan, Head of the Political Wing, Batticaloa, Amparai Special Commander Col. Banu, Col. Ramesh, Senior member V. Meanwhile the mortal remains of former Amparai legislator and human rights activist Chandraneru Ariyanayagam was also placed alongside the four martyrs after conferring post-humously the title of “patriotic citizen” for paying of respects by the public.
Lt. Col. Kausalyan and colleagues and Mr. Chandraneru Ariyanayagam were killed in an ambush Monday night while traveling from Kilinochchi to Batticaloa at a location between two SL military camps in Welikanda and Punanai in the Batticaloa- Polannaruwa boundary. They were returning after discussions in Kilinochchi relating to post Tsunami relief, reconstruction and development activities in Batticaloa, Amparai districts. LTTE has task the SLMM to investigate into this incident independently since it is believed that SL military intelligence groups have complicity with the assassins, a position substantiated by the location and its proximity to two SL military camps.
