
Armed men in military uniform threaten Tamil young men to leave Colombo
Tamil young men living in Colombo in rented apartments are being threatened and told to leave Colombo immediately and go to their own towns. Those carrying out the threats come in military uniforms.
Many Tamil young men living lawfully in Colombo after registering with the nearby police stations are facing threats to their lives in this manner. These young men are living in Colombo to make use of the educational and employment opportunities there. Some are also staying in Colombo in order to obtain the necessary documents to travel overseas. These Tamil young men living in rented apartments are singled out by these armed groups and are being ordered to leave Colombo immediately and go back to Jaffna. Tamil young men living in Mathampitty road and Kimpulapittiya area were visited by armed men who also told them that unless they leave Colombo there will be mysterious dead bodies floating along river banks. Reliable sources say that the Colombo police are actively collecting details about Tamil young men living in Colombo and passing it to their secret armed groups who are working to expel the Tamil young men from Colombo. Many Tamil young men who were threatened have apparently complaint to the Norwegian embassy, SLMM, and Jayalath Jayawardhana, Member of Parliament for UNP. Head of SLMM have also confirmed this.
