
Thenmaradchi people protest demanding permission to resettle in their homes
People from Karampakam, Odduveli, Eluthumadduval, Usan, and Kilalai staged a demonstration on Saturday, 11th June 2005 demanding permission to resettle in their own homes. The protest held from 10.00 am till 11.00 am in front of the military security post on A-9 road opposite the Mirusuvil Roman Catholic School.
 A memorandum was handed to the General in charge of the Usan military head quarters. Copies of the memorandum also handed over to other relevant military chiefs and the Sri Lankan Human Rights Commission. 
Arrangements for the protest were organized by the Civilian Based Organizations in Thenmaradchi and the Society for the welfare of the displaced. Member of Parliament N Raviraj joined with the protest. Requests were also issued to all Tamil members of parliament in the Jaffna district to join the protests. General public and not just the affected people have also been asked to join the protest.
