Sabotage attempt on LTTE convoy in Batticaloa foiled
Colombo media engaged in vicious propaganda
A sabotage attempt on the LTTE convoy that was returning from Kokkaddicholai after participating in Tamil Eelam Womens’ Day and Martyr Malathi commemoration was foiled at a point near the Sri Lankan military complex at Vavunativu in Batticaloa yesterday, 10 October 2005.
The attack team reportedly consisted of an armed group and members of the Sri Lankan Military Intelligence unit. The LTTE team did not suffer any casualty and the attackers fled when their attempt was repulsed. Meanwhile extremist opinionated media in Colombo is engaged in spinning stories that speak about Commander Bhanu being killed in the attack. This is far from truth and in fact Commander Bhanu was not travelling in the convoy that met with the confrontation. Ironically, SL Military Intelligence unit has participated in an attempted attack on LTTE convoy with its clandestine partner, the armed group exactly on the day the Sri Lankan Military Commander rejected the suggestion that clandestine armed groups are working with the military.
