LTTE Delegation meets with MEP in Irish Parliament
In a meeting in the Irish Parliamentary complex with Mr.Eoin Ryan MEP, Committee on Economic & Monetary Affairs, Committee on Development, Mr.S.P.Tamilselvan, Head of the LTTE Political delegation said that the current mission of the delegation is to bring out to the international community, the ground realities pertaining to the humanitarian crisis created by the tsunami impact and to focus attention on the lack of progress made in structuring a Joint Mechanism to adequately address post tsunami management in an equitable manner.
 Mr. Eoin Ryan showed keen interest in the likelihood of tsunami impact having a positive effect on the peace process since working together in a common adversity situation would tend to facilitate confidence building between the parties and thereby facilitate the recommencement of the stalled peace process. Explaining the collective thinking of the Tamil people in the context of the devastation caused by war and the serious impact of tsunami in the NorthEast coast, Mr.Tamilselvan said that structuring an effective mechanism for equitable distribution of the overwhelmingly flowing international aid to the Tamil people, would be the right step in demonstrating government’s goodwill and sincerity in its professed intention of resolving the political problem through negotiated means. Mr.Tamilselvan also requested the MEP to take the initiative to send a fact finding mission of MEP to the affected Tamil regions and interact with the government for the implementation of the Cease Fire Agreement to restore normalcy to a people battered by war.
