Special Task Force (STF) harassing women in Kalmunai welfare centresPeople in the welfare centres in the Tamil area of Kalmunai district have expressed concerns that harassment by STF at their welfare centres are increasing.The staff of village council, Samurdhi development group, and other bodies who are performing administrative work in these welfare centres have expressed concern that the STF is stifling their efforts to run these welfare centres effectively. The STF are calling women to their camps at night on the pretext of conducting inquiries. This is causing headaches for those trying to administer the welfare centres. The Kalmunai area civil leaders and intellectuals are expressing the view that the STF is carrying out a planned action to destroy the cultural fabric of the Tamil people. 26 February 2005
