Economic blockade: Totally against to the sprit of the CFA

“There will be a full scale peaceful demonstration so as to paralyze the government structures in the district, if the economic blockade imposed on the Muthur east area will not be removed before 25th of May”, stated Trincomalee district Tamil People Association in their public statement sent to the President, SLMM and various embassies.

Extracts from the statement as follows:

“Three years have past passed after since the signing of the cease fire agreement between the parties, but there are no actual dividends for Tamil speaking people.

While adopting tactics to deceive the international community, the government of Sri Lanka engaged in activities to hamper the Tamil national course and the Sri Lankan government already begins the preparations for resuming war. In the resent days, tThe government and its forces are violating the cease fire than ever before in recent days.

Now the government is enforcing the economical blockage on the Muthur east area in Trincomalie Trincomalee as totally against to the sprit of the cease fire agreement. Once s again a group nation of people, who have been affected adversely in the past through two decades of war and the Tsunami, now facing atrocities even in the time of peace. We have the moral obligation to voice for those people.

It is impossible for us to keep silence while our brethrens are in great suffering and distress. We couldn’t allow the continuation of sufferings and sorrow of our people.

Therefore we, the Tamil people association Association of TrincomaliTrincomalee, urgede the government to stop the economical blockage immediately. If the economic blockage imposed on in the Mudur Muthur east area will not be removed before 25th of this May, we will organize full scale peaceful demonstration so as to paralyze the government structures in the district.”
