Underworld suspect arrested for Lt. Col. Meedin assassinationPolice have arrested underworld suspect Samila Rosan (“Sammi”) in connection with the assassination of senior Intelligence Officer Lt. Col. Tuwan Rizwi Meedin. Rosan was arrested in his residence in Kadawata with four other suspects, including his brother.Police reports indicate that on the night of the assassination, Rosan used another member of the underworld force, “Ice Manchu,” to call Lt. Col. Meedin, encouraging him to come out of his home. Military spokesperson, N Vithanake, stated that a special intelligence group was sent to arrest Manchu, where he is in hiding under the protection of a political VIP in Trincomalee. The relationships among Rosan, Manchu and Lt. Col. Meedin are unclear. Police are conducting investigations with those under custody. 02 November 2005
