
“Post-tsunami aid should be equitably distributed in proportion to the damage”
Ambassador Mikko Pyhala in HelsinkiReceiving the LTTE team led by Mr. S.P. Tamilselvan Head of the Political Division in its first leg in Helsinki, Finland in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs today 29 March 2005, Ambassador Mikko Pyhala, Asia and Oceania said that Finland encourages the parties, the LTTE and the Government of Sri Lanka (GoSL) to arrive at a decision without further delay to institutionalize the joint mechanism for post tsunami management.
 Mr. Tamilselvan briefed the Foreign Ministry team on the current status of the Peace Process, Cease Fire Agreement and Joint Structure for post-tsunami management in the context of a war-ravaged asymmetrical condition that prevailed in the NorthEast prior to 26 December 2004. 
Present in the discussion was Mr. Kari Karanko, Director, International Environment Policy, Department for Global Affairs, Mr. Timo Karmakallio, Counsellor, Unit for Humanitarian Assistance and Ms. Anna Bjornberg, Programme Officer, Finnish Red Cross.
