Ten schools in Thenmaradchy Military High Security Zones not functioning“Educational activities of thousands of students in Thenmaradchy in the southern part of the Jaffna district are badly affected due to ten schools in the division still under military occupation in areas classified as High Security Zones (HSZ) denying access to civilians” said officials of the Zonal Education Office in Chavakachcheri.“Out of the 67 schools in the zone, ten are within the HSZ. The other 57 schools that suffered serious damages to the buildings during the height of war have not been fully renovated. Students are compelled to study under difficult conditions devoid of any facilities that are normally available to students in other parts of the country” commented these officials. 21 October 2005
