A young man killed by paramilitaryA young man identified as Kovinthan Vijeyarasa (21) and father of a child was killed in Arumugaththankudiyiruppu in Eravur. The incident occurred in a public transport bus from Eravur to Batticaloa at about 11.00 am. Two other civilians who were traveling on the bus were also injured in the incident. They are Thambymuthu Arumathurai, 46 and Manikkam, 55.According to eyewitness, the assailant Mathushan, a member of paramilitary Karuna group. got on the bus and fired with a 9 mm pistol. He tried to take Kovinthan’s body with him but failed so he escaped from the bus. The dead body and the two injured civilians were rushed to the Batticaloa hospital.
