
LTTE releases 93 underage youths
Ninety three underage youths who joined the LTTE over the last three months by lying about their age were released.
Sixty eight of them were released directly to the parents on 1 September 2006. Further 11 were released on 1 October 2006 to the families. Fifteen youths, who refused to return to their families, were enrolled at the Education and Skill Development Centre (ESDC) for vocational training. Parents and UNICEF can visit the youths at the ESDC. The list of the names of the 93 youths was handed to UNICEF and the ICRC.
