
Paramilitaries operating in full force in Jaffna, kill two civilians Friday night
Residents in areas of Jaffna continue to witness the atrocities of the paramilitaries. On Friday night, two civilians were shot dead in separate incidents in Kayts and Point Pedro. The locations of the incidents show how widespread the actions of the paramilitaries are.
Kayts
Thurairajah Ravichandran (34) was shot and killed in Kayts on Friday at 8:00 pm. The gunmen entered a guesthouse that Ravichandran owns in Puliyankudal junction. Residents in the area stated the gunmen were part of a paramilitary group operating under the Sri Lankan military intelligence. Residents further stated that Ravichandran’s body was left unattended for several hours near a Sri Lankan Navy base where the incident took place. Ravichandran is a father of four children. Thamotharampillai Suntharalingam (53), from Athai in Karaveddy, was shot and killed while he was riding his motorbike on Friday night around 8:00 pm. Suntharalingam was riding on Thambachetty Road toward Navalady when gunmen on a motorbike following him shot him in front of Mayakkai Pillaiyar Temple.
