Activities of GoSL operated forces - 30 June
Batticaloa: killed: On 30 June at 6.00 pm Gnanasekaram Santhiran (30) was shot and killed by Sri Lankan army (SLA) soldiers in Chenkalady near the Bank of Ceylon. Santhiran was shot in the head, then shot again at close range. Witnesses stated that the SLA soldiers placed a hand grenade near his body after shooting him.
Batticaloa: killed: On 30 June the dead bodies of Arulaiya Mathy (30) and his wife, Mathy Sudha (25), were found in Welikande. Witnesses stated the couple was abducted by GoSL operated forces on Welikande road. Their bodies were found in a decayed state. The woman is suspected to have been raped before her murder because her dress was left on top of her husband’s body. Trincomalee: killed: On 30 June at 3.00 pm SLA soldiers at the Sambaltivu junction checkpoint shot and killed a Tamil civilian. The unidentified civilian was shot when he failed to stop his motorbike at the checkpoint. Ampara: killed: On 30 June at 1.30 pm Kanthasamy Jeyanthakumar (28) was shot and killed by gunmen of GoSL operated forces on Vivekanantha Road in Karaithivu. Gunmen on motorbikes arrived at the house Jeyanthakumar was in, asked him to come outside and killed him.
