Jaffna: killed: Thirumeni Ariyaratnam Lingan was shot and killed by GoSL operated gunmen on a motorbike on Monday, 3 July. He was with friends on the Matthews road where he resided when he was shot.
Trincomalee: injured: Ramiah Vinayagamoorthy was shot and injured while fishing in Salli sea on Tuesday, 4 July. GoSL operated masked gunmen who were in a boat stopped his boat and began shooting Vinayagamoorthy. He was managed to return to the shore and was admitted to the hospital for serious injuries. Trincomalee: relief blocked: Relief aid for 675 Tamil families from Trincomalee suburbs displaced to Chelvanayagapuram school has recently been blocked by the Sri Lankan army (SLA) checkpoints. The families have been displacing since May to escape the killings and abductions of the GoSL operated forces. Mannar: loss of livelihood: Since the Sri Lankan Navy’s Pesalai church attack on 17 June, the Navy ban on fishing in Pesalai and Pallimunai sea still remains despite previous plans by GoSL authorities to lift the ban. Due to the ban, 578 families (2,718 people) from Pallimunai and 1,168 families (4,430 people) from Pesalai are suffering due to the fishermen’s loss of livelihood.
