
Killings by GoSL operated forces 19 June to 20 June
Jaffna: Kathiravelu Subramaniam (85) was found dead in his home in Punguduthivu on Monday, 19 June. Subramaniam had several stab wounds. His neighbors discovered his body.
Batticaloa: Jeyaraj Suthaharan (24) was shot dead by GoSL operated paramilitary gunmen riding on a motorbike in Urani near the Urani SLA camp. Suthaharan was riding his bicycle to his home in Thiraimadu when he was shot. Iyathurai Nirmalakumaran (55) a shop owner was shot and killed by GoSL operated paramilitary gunmen in his shop in Kommathurai. The gunmen entered the shop when it was filled with customers and shot dead Nirmalakumaran. SLA shelling in Batticaloa SLA shelled LTTE area from the SLA Vavunathivu camp in Batticaloa on Monday, 19 June between 12 midnight and 1.00 am. Shells fell in the residential areas of Kurinchamunai, Mangikattu and Puliyamadu. Villagers displaced in the middle of the night as a result of the shelling. SLA also shelled the LTTE’s FDL position on the same day at 5.00 am. One LTTE member was injured and has been hospitalized. Allaipiddy massacre investigation For the second time in a row police inspector Mahesh Pererra, appointed to submit a report on the Allaipiddy massacre on 13 May, failed to submit a report, citing the current situation in Jaffna as the reason. Defense lawyer Remedius has objected, stating that witness statements have been submitted to Judge Jeyaram Trotsky. Remedius stated that the excuses given by the police inspector are unacceptable. Judge Trotsky is seeking advice from the attorney general’s office.
