Jaffna: Srinithi Nandasegaran, the Jaffna Additional Magistrate, was threatened by the Sri Lankan army (SLA) when soldiers followed her car at gunpoint near Parameswara junction on Sunday, 9 July. Srinithi was not in her car at that time. The driver of the car stated that he has been harassed and questioned about Srinithi’s travel by the SLA recently.

Jaffna: The Sri Lankan army (SLA) has been increasing its army camps in Jaffna. New camps are being created in the areas of Ariyalai, Maniyanthottum, Pumbukar and Koyathottam. The SLA is also building permanent bunkers with cement, steel beams and sand bags.

Jaffna: The Sri Lankan Army (SLA) is continuing cordon search operations in Nelliady and Vathiri of Vadamaradchi. More than 100 SLA troops were deployed in Nelliady junction and started a house to house search on Sunday, 9 July.

During their search operation, students who were going to private classes were stopped, heavily investigated, and were unable to attend their classes. These kind of cordon and search operations are continuing throughout Jaffna, especially in Vadamaradchi. Many civilians have been remaining indoors because of the large SLA presence.
