
Tamil National Alliance (TNA) candidate and associate shot dead in Amparai
A TNA candidate for the local government elections and an employee of the Samudhri Development Board were shot and killed by paramilitary on 18 May in Amparai.
Balasundaram Kamalraj (27) Natpiddimunai and a candidate for Naavithanveli area for the upcoming local government elections were shot together with his associate Balasundaram Sureshwaran (32). The pair was traveling in a motorbike around 1.00 pm when paramilitary men followed them from the Central Camp Police Station and shot the pair. Kamaraj died on the spot and Sureshkumar was taken to hospital and died later. The motorbike belonging to the victims and their cell phone was taken by the gunmen.
