
Tamil literary figure killed in Jaffna
Pon. Ganeshamoorthy (56), a Tamil literary figure in Jaffna, was shot and killed in outside of his home in Thirunelvely, Jaffna on Friday, 4 August around 7.45 am. He was leaving his home for work when GoSL operated gunmen shot him dead. He worked at the Peoples Bank as the General Manager. Several banks were closed following the killing and bank employees protested the murder.
Pon. Ganeshamoorthy is regarded as a prominent literary figure in Jaffna for his extensive writings of songs, poems and books about the Tamil nation. He achieved special recognition and praise for his work from the LTTE leadership.
