
SLA attacks LTTE members in LTTE areas
Two LTTE members killed by SLA in BatticaloaOn 4 March 2006, several persons in military fatigue came forward from the SLA checkpoint at Vavunathivu and also from the SLA military camp nearby and attacked LTTE members guarding the LTTE Forward Defence Line of Vavunathivu. Two LTTE members were killed in this attack by SLA.
LTTE members at this post launched a counter attack and the attackers from the SLA camp ran back to their camp. Ambulances were heard leaving the SLA camp soon after this incident. In the past there were two very similar attacks carried out on this LTTE post during the CFA period. On 25 April 2004, in a similar attack, three LTTE members at this same Vavunathivu LTTE FDL were killed and the attackers traveled further into the LTTE controlled area and attacked another LTTE camp killing another four disabled LTTE members and escaped backed to SLA camp. On 11 October 2005, a group of men in military fatigues launched an attack on an LTTE convoy at the LTTE FDL in Vavunathivu seriously injuring three LTTE members.
