Up to 200 children abducted by GoSL operated paramilitaries in BatticaloaSince 13 June, up to 200 children have been abducted by paramilitary groups, with the full cooperation of the SLA, in the government controlled areas of Valaichenai, Kiran and Santhiveli.The ages of those abducted ranged from 14 to 18 years old. The children were taken to Thivuchenai, Batticaloa, where the paramilitary force, ‘Karuna group’ operates from. When UNICEF was contacted about these abductions, is said that a team is investigating the issue. Secretary General of LTTE Peace Secretariat, S Puleedevan, also notified the Norwegian Ambassador and Norway officials about these child abductions.
