
Mullaithivu fishermen and farmers unedr Sri Lankan military fire
48 bombs dropped on Muththaiyankaddu farms in MullaithivuSix Sri Lankan Air Force Kfirs each in two sorties dropped 48 bombs in Muththaiyankaddu in the Mullaithivu district on 13 October. The bombs fell mostly in cultivated land destroying crops and livestock. The bombing lasted for two hours between 7.00am and 9.00am.
Sri Lanka military fires artillery shells at Mullaithivu fishermen Sri Lankan Navy and the Sri Lankan army from their camp in Mankindimalai in Mullaithivu fired artillery shells on the Mullaithivu fishermen. Fishermen from Alampil, Chemmalai and Nayaru were at sea to catch squids when they were fired at between 6.00pm and 7.30pm. The fishermen turned back to the their villages. When they were at the shore around 8.45pm the Sri Lankan Navy opened fire again. The firing by the Sri Lankan Navy and Army restarted at 11.00pm at night towards their villages said the fisherman. Fishermen say that such attacks have continued for the last three days. Fishermen lamented that this has denied them their daily earnings at a time when the relief they were receiving following the Boxing Day tsunami has also been stopped.
