Bodies of three men murdered by SLA found in Puliyankulam jungle
Kuhaneswaran (38) father of 3 children, Nagulenthirarasa (46) father of 7 seven children, Thiraviyan (33) father of one child all of Periyamadu in Puliyankulam in the LTTE controlled area in Vavuniya district went to hunt with four dogs in the Periyamadu jungle in Puliyankulam on 13 April 2006 at 11.00 am. They did not return.
Villagers searched for the missing men for five days before they discovered the bodies in a small clearing on 17 April around 3.00 pm. All three men had gunshots in their body which would have killed them. Their face was totally blackened and their hair has fallen off which the villagers suspect to be because some acid substance was thrown over them. One man neck had a deep cut made with a sharp object. Villagers suspect SLA men for the murder of the three men. Though there was heavy rain during the five days when the men were missing, villagers found boot marks on a gravel mount on which the SLA men had slipped. Also visible was the depression on the bushed where the SLA men were hiding in waiting. Several villagers also saw five SLA men wearing dark clothes (unusual for the local people to wear this) leaving the LTTE area and going towards SLA area on 14 April. It is worth noting that recently, there were several claymore attacks inside LTTE controlled area carried out by the SLA.
