
Martyrs day commemorations begins today in Tamileealm
Tamil people have started commemorating the fallen fighters who attained martyrdom in the war of independence against the oppression and inequality.
 Being the first day of three-day commemoration, the people of Tamil Eelam and other parts of the world decorated the streets and structures. In Tamil homeland, people in every nooks and corners pay their sense of gratefulness to the youngsters who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of their people. 
Martyrs Day is an annual event that is commemorated on the 27th of November every year, the date signifying the day on which the first Liberation Tiger fighter Second Lieutenant Shankar fell in the year 1982. 
Commencing from the year 1989 the Liberation Tigers, commemorate this historic event on that day. The burial ground known as Maveerar Thuyilumillam (Martyrs repository) located all over the Tamil homeland become the focal point where parents, relatives, friends, colleagues and all the Tamil people congregate in the nearest repository where lamps are lighted by the side every tombstone and respected in veneration.
