SLA takes bribes and permits illegal sand removal in Jaffna peninsulaCivilians in Jaffna are accusing the police and SLA of assisting illegal sand removal in Jaffna after accepting bribes. These activities are going on in both Vadamaradchi and Themaradchi during day and night according to the people.
Varani, Navatkuli, Kaithady, Thannangilappu, Ariyalai, Nedunkulam, And Columbuththurai areas are the worst affected by this sand removel. Civilians who tried to question these illegal activities in Columbuththurai and Nedunkulam were badly attacked by SLA. Those who were attacked by SLA have lodged complaints with the Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission.
