The massacre of 11 Muslims near Yala Nation park in Amparai
The LTTE condemns the massacre of 11 Muslim workers near the Yala National Park. The LTTE notes that this is a Sri Lankan government controlled area and a Sri Lankan military camp is stationed near the location of the massacre.
The Sri Lankan military is adopting its long tradition of blaming the LTTE for the atrocities it commits. Even recently there have been many murders that the military committed and then blamed it on the LTTE. The slaying of the 17 aid workers of the Action Faim in Trincomalee is perhaps the best known example. International media ought to practice some caution and avoid falling into the Sri Lankan military’s trap of blaming the LTTE. The massacre of 17 Action Faim employees was eventually exposed because the international media met the families. That is the type of standard that ought to be practiced in Sri Lanka.
