
Jaffna education activities comes to a standstill as students protest
All the schools in Jaffna were void of students yesterday as they boycotted schools to protest the interference of SLA into the education activities in Jaffna. Only teachers were present at schools.
Pockets of students could be seen protesting in the streets. Effigy of Major Gen Chandrasri was burnt by students in front of Jaffna Hindu College. In the meantime, the Jaffna Technical College students union accused the military of cutting the telephone line for the Technical College. Also the television service to the Technical Csollege was cut. There was a large presence of SLA in front of schools and at main streets.
