Killings and disappearances reported on 14 November

Batticaloa

A civilian abducted by the paramilitary Karuna group and was found dead yesterday.

Sivalingam Rajendram aged 32 from Thannamunai in Eravur, was abducted by Karuna group last week. His headless body was found yesterday.

Another body of a youth was found in Siththandy, Batticaloa yesterday with his hands tied behind. The body has been identified as that of Selvam Ravichandran aged 25, a father of a child from Siththandy. When he was abducted he was making arrangements to go abroad.

Jaffna

Four civilians were abducted by the white van squad and two more civilians are reported missing.

Thinesh Thilakumar aged 25 from Savatkadu, Suthumalai went missing from 2nd November.

Krishnapillai Suthakaran aged 28, from Uduvil road Manipay went missing when he went to a nearby shop last Friday.

Thampi Aiyah Jegan, 26, Kondavil east was abducted from his home by armed men two days ago. The abductees said that they are from Achchelu military camp and they are taking Jegan for an inquiry. When Jegan did not return home, his parents lodged a complaint to the Jafnna branch of the Sri Lankan Human Rights Commission.

Sellaiyah Kanakasuriyan, 30, Balasuntharampillai Kamalraj, 23, and Saravanapavananthan Kiritharan, 24 from Kantharodai road in Chunnakam were abducted by the armed men in white van around 11. 45 pm on 12th November.

Sri Lankan armed forces and its supported paramilitary groups forcefully enter into the houses and abduct civilians at mid nights. These abducted civilians are later found as dead bodies in various places. Civilians in Jaffna are in state of fear due to the abductions by the Sri Lankan military, Police and paramilitary groups.
