Third killing within a week in VavuniyaA 40 year old civilian from Vavuniya, Ponnaiah Murugesu, was shot and killed by paramilitary group on Friday 24 March 2006. On Friday night at about 8.15 pm a group of paramilitaries came in a white van and shot him in front of his hi shop. Ramesh, an assistant at the shop, was also injured in the incident. Injured Ramesh was rushed to Vavuniya General Hospital in a serious condition.
This is the third attack in Vavuniya by paramilitary groups in a week which has killed three businessmen. The spate of killings in Vavuniya has proved clearly the paramilitary activities in Vavuniya. 25 March 2006
