SLA attacks LTTE positions
Two LTTE positions located along the Forward Defense Line (FDL) at Muhamai border came under the attack of the Sri Lankan Armed forces on the night of 17 May.
SLA moved forward by 250 metres from their FDL at 10.30 pm and began attacking using small guns and 40mm grenades. LTTE retaliated and SLA withdrew and ceased their attack at 10.50 pm. This was repeated again at 2.00am in the night when SLA again moved forward and began attacking in a similar manner. When LTTE retaliated SLA withdrew and ceased their attack at 3.15am. ICRC which monitors the no-man zone between the two FDLs during daylight are concerned for their safety. SLMM has been informed of the attack and they are about to investigate.
