Are the lives of Tamil children less worthy?
On two successive days of 7 and 8 June five Tamil children were killed in two massacres. One of the killings was in Vadamunai in Batticaloa on 7 June when three children aged 0, 10 and 11 were killed with seven more civilians when a claymore hit their vehicle.
AFP reported that Thuyavan, spokesperson for the Karuna paramilitary group, claimed responsibility for the attack. From SLMM to Amnesty International have repeatedly said that Karuna paramilitary group is supported by GoSL. (http://www.ltteps.org/?view=1370&folder=17) Who killed the children in Vadamunai? The second killing was in Vankalai on 8 June when two children aged 7 and 9 were killed with their parents. The Bishop of Mannar Rayappu Joseph told BBC that SLA persons were in the area that day. When asked if anything is being done to give protection to the people he responded that it is those who are supposed to give protection who are doing the killing. (http://www.ltteps.org/?view=1376&folder=17) Who killed the children in Vankalai? Now imagine the reverse situation. Five Sinhala children aged 0, 7, 9, 10 and 11 are killed by the LTTE on two consecutive days. What will the international media and the international leaders be doing and saying? Is this not worth pausing and thinking about? To give more food for thought, the LTTE Political will be releasing statistics on the children murdered by GoSL forces during the CFA period.
